Self Made in New Hampshire is a tribute to people who have truly carved their own place in our state.
Nominees for this award could be people who have started their career from scratch, beginning at the bottom and tirelessly working their way up. They may have spent extra years earning a degree, working full time while taking classes and looking after their family. Or they might just be incredibly hard workers, driven to excel by making their lives and the lives of others a little bit better.
Many people know someone who is a genuine success story in this state. This is your chance to give others the opportunity to share their story and inspire this community.

The winner of the annual Self Made in New Hampshire award receives a bronze sculpture, "Self Made Man" by acclaimed artist/sculptor Bobbie Carlyle. The piece is Carlyle's best known work; it depicts a man carving himself out of raw stone. The rotating sculpture stands at about 20 inches tall and is 13 inches wide and is valued at more than $3,000.
The winner's award is similar to the large sculpture that stands at Brookstone Park in Derry and was commissioned by Harold J. Brooks.
The sculpture perfectly captures the essence of what the Self Made in New Hampshire nominees stand for: People who have taken something out of the ordinary and carved it into an
extraordinary career and life.
